Everyone's talking about Bèbèdí
We went public this week, the responses blew us away and we want to share it with you
Hey Bèbè,
I’ll be honest with you. I didn’t know it was going to land like that.
On Monday, I posted on LinkedIn. I introduced Bèbèdí properly and publicly, for the first time. I wrote about what we’re building, why the waist, why now. I shared the idea that women deserve technology designed around how they actually live.
And then I put my phone down.
By the time I picked it up again, gbam! The post was moving. Comments were coming in from women I’d never met; in the US, Europe, across Africa! who were saying things like: this is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. And: I already do this with my waist beads, I just didn’t have the words for it. And: finally, someone building something that makes sense for us.
Finally.
That word kept appearing. Not just excitement about a product. Relief that someone had named something they’d been feeling for a long time and built something they needed long ago.
That’s Bèbèdí. That’s always been Bèbèdí.
What we announced
For those of you who are new here, welcome, and let me catch you up.
Bèbèdí is the world’s first waist-worn body-awareness wearable designed for women. It sits at your waist, tracks your temperature, movement, cycle patterns, and sleep, and pairs with an AI-native companion app that translates everything into language that actually makes sense for everyday life.
It is not designed for performance or optimisation. Not to turn your body into a dashboard of metrics you have to manage before breakfast.
Just clarity. Everyday understanding of what your body is doing and why.
Long before wellness apps and fitness trackers, women across Africa and beyond wore beads at their waist. Not just as adornment, as awareness. For generations, the waist has been the place where the body speaks. Bèbèdí is heritage meeting technology.
We are building this because we believe women deserve technology that was designed for them from the beginning not retrofitted, not an afterthought, not a pink version of something built for someone else.
Pre-orders open in June. The waitlist is at bebedi.com.
What people said
“This is so dope! As a person that has worn my waist beads continuously for 8yrs and know my plan is working when they start loosen and fall, or that things are getting a little shaky because they're to tight. Now adding the technology to it will be a game changer! I can't wait! I hope eventually we'll be able to choose different colors! So exciting!”
“As someone who has worn waist beads since I was a teenager; I am so here for this!!!! Women in tech 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾”
“Love this! As someone who's worn waist beads for cultural context, I'm excited about this doubling as a signal to so much more for the female anatomy. It's incredible what technology can do but what's even more powerful is the women leveraging tech to design solutions for women and the intersectionality between culture, technology and women's health. Congratulations”
“This is genius and something I’d actually feel happy to wear. What a clever idea! I can’t wait to see it become a huge success!”
“Absolutely love this! Thank you for designing something specifically tailored to the female body. Joined the waitlist and excited for the big reveal”
“This is sheer brilliance!!! Exactly what intentional innovation looks like”
“This is such a cool idea! And it's so much more beautiful and feminine that most awareness tech.”
“OMG!!! I love everything about out this! It’s ancestral and modern! This is going to transform lives!”
Women who immediately understood it because they had already, intuitively, been doing a version of it or they knew what exists just doesn’t fit right.
The knowledge was always there. In the culture, in the body, in the practice. We are not inventing something foreign. We are building the infrastructure for something women already knew.
Who you're joining
This community exists because we believe that the conversation around women’s health & wellness– honest, culturally grounded, free of clinical distance and wellness industry pressure, is worth having. Once a week, with warmth and without shame.
That conversation lives here, in this newsletter, and in the notes that go out throughout the week from Mama B.
Which brings me to something I want to properly introduce.
Meet Mama B
Mama B is the voice of this newsletter. She is warm, honest, culturally fluent, and deeply committed to the kind of conversations we should be having.
What comes next
We are building hard and carefully and with intention. The community is growing. Pre-orders open in June and we will share every milestone between now and then.
The LinkedIn post has a link at the bottom of this newsletter. Go and read it if you haven’t. Leave a comment if something lands for you. Share it if you know someone who needs to see it.
Tell a friend or three about Bèbèdí. The waistlist is open at bebedi.com. Pre-orders open June 2026.
Thank you for this week. For the comments, the messages, the new subscribers, the people who’ve been here since the beginning. Every single one of you is part of why this exists.
